Energy: Why Uniper boss Maubach throws down – economy

After almost two years Klaus-Dieter Maubach is over. And at least the second half of this short term was disastrous for Uniper’s CEO. Germany’s by far largest gas importer has accumulated such high losses after Russia’s delivery stop that the federal government has to save and take over the company with up to 34.5 billion euros in taxpayer money. Shareholders and the Competition guardian of the EU Commission just before Christmas. Three weeks later, Maubach now announces that a “new phase” is beginning; this is “the right time to clear the way for a new board team”.
