After the gas prices, EnBW is also significantly increasing the prices for heat generation. The tariffs for electric storage heaters or heat pumps will increase by more than 60 percent on average as of January 1st.
Heat electricity from the energy group EnBW is becoming more expensive: at the beginning of the new year, prices are raised by an average of more than 60 percent. The company announced this. Heat electricity tariffs outside the basic supply then change by a similar amount. EnBW justified the increase with significantly increased procurement costs.
Heat flow is required for night storage heaters and heat pumps. Many suppliers offer special tariffs for this that are cheaper than the prices for household electricity. These are due to the partially lower grid fees and concession fees for heating electricity.
Monthly costs increase by 66 euros
For a heat electricity tariff, households must have two independent electricity meters, so that the system is billed for heat electricity using a separate electricity meter.
In the case of electric storage heaters without separate measurement with a typical consumption of 6300 kilowatt hours per year, customers must expect additional costs of around 66 euros per month, according to EnBW. For a household with a heat pump and an annual consumption of 6500 kilowatt hours, the monthly costs also increase by around 66 euros.
Where the heat pump expansion hits
In times of the energy crisis, heat pumps are actually seen as a more cost-effective and climate-friendly alternative to oil and gas heating. Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck plans to install millions of pumps by 2030.
In view of the sharp rise in the cost of gas and heating oil as a result of the Ukraine war, house and apartment owners are very interested in heat pumps, as was recently shown by a survey of energy consultants by the German Energy Agency (DENA).
After that, however, the installation of a heat pump often fails due to the structural condition of many houses. The availability of skilled workers, delivery bottlenecks and high costs also slow down the installation of heat pumps on a large scale. And now the announcement by EnBW also shows that the energy crisis is not leaving heat pump owners unaffected either.
