Emmanuel Macron will travel to Moscow on Monday and Kiev on Tuesday

The Head of State spoke by telephone, three times this week, with his Russian counterpart in order to defuse the crisis.

The Head of State will go there. As the Élysée indicated to AFP, Emmanuel Macron will travel to Russia on Monday and then to Ukraine on Tuesday. The possibility of a trip to Marseille planned for these same dates had finally been swept away a few days ago.

This week, Emmanuel Macron has multiplied the contacts. On three occasions, he spoke by telephone with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in an attempt to defuse the crisis. After a conversation with the Head of State, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, also indicated that he had mentioned a “acceleration of the peace process“.

On Wednesday evening, the Élysée also affirmed, to the union with the United States, its “support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine“.
