Chelsea have found an internal solution to the problem left back position. Loan player Kenedy now has a “big opportunity”.

Chelsea have found a solution to their acute problems at left-back. As the Blues announced, the Brazilian Kenedy was recalled early from his loan club Flamengo Rio de Janeiro. The 25-year-old gives coach Thomas Tuchel an additional option after Ben Chilwell’s serious knee injury.

After Chilwell’s injury, only Spaniard Marcos Alonso was left in the squad as a trained left winger. Chelsea were previously interested in signing Lucas Digne, but Aston Villa prevailed in the race for the Frenchman.

Kenedy at Chelsea FC: came in 2015, awarded five times

Previously, Chelsea had already tried to bring back loanee Emerson from Olympique Lyon. Since there is no such return clause in the loan agreement between the two clubs, the French should have agreed – which did not happen.

Kenedy had already been signed by Chelsea in 2015, but has been loaned out five times since then, including the now canceled loan. So far, Kenedy has only played 27 competitive games for the Londoners. When asked if Kenedy could help the team, Tuchel said: “We can’t say that Kenedy is the solution, but he can be a solution.” The situation is a “great opportunity” for the Brazilian.

Kenedy could actually be a good fit for Tuchel’s 3-4-3 system, which is mostly used at Chelsea. In the course of his career he has already played as a left-back, but also played much more offensively.
