The pilot smelled smoke in the cockpit. He decided to make an emergency landing at Lake Constance Airport. Innsbruck should actually be the destination of the trip.

A plane operated by the British airline Easyjet landed at Bodensee-Airport Friedrichshafen in the Lake Constance district on Saturday after an air emergency.

According to the police, because the pilot had noticed smoke in the cockpit, he flew to Friedrichshafen Airport. The machine was therefore on its way from London to Innsbruck, but could not land there due to the bad weather.

The pilot was able to safely land the plane with 146 passengers and six crew members on board, the police said. There was no personal injury or property damage. The cause of the perception in the cockpit was previously unknown, it said. The plane will be examined. Buses were made available to the passengers for the onward journey to Innsbruck.
