Dead after traffic accident on the A43 near Bochum

During the night there is a serious accident in NRW involving numerous cars. An 18-year-old woman lost her life.
Car parts are scattered on Autobahn 43, several vehicles with dented bonnets are across the street, at least two of them have burned: five cars collided in a traffic accident near Bochum, an 18-year-old died of her injuries, as the police said in the morning communicated. Another 16 people were injured, twelve of them were hospitalized.
The 18-year-old drove her car off the road towards Münster and drove right into the guardrail, said a police spokesman. The car then came to a stop in the middle of the road. The 28-year-old driver of the following vehicle saw the 18-year-old’s car too late and crashed into it.
Three other cars drove into the 18-year-old’s car, two also collided with the 28-year-old’s car. According to initial findings, the novice driver had lost control of her car due to the high speed at which she was driving.
According to the fire brigade, the woman was lying lifeless on the hard shoulder when the emergency services arrived and was already being cared for by first responders. She died in hospital that morning. Another seven people were seriously injured in the accident on Monday night, including two small children, according to the fire department. Five people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and four people were treated by the local ambulance service.
Two cars were completely burned out. The fire brigade prevented the flames from spreading to another car. More than 60 emergency services were on site. The A43 was temporarily closed in both directions during the rescue work.
