What do you give someone who already has everything – in other words: the richest man in the world? Elon Musk fans are convinced: A statue!

Rich people are popularly said to be a bit whimsical. Elon Musk is no exception: bizarre, quirky – but often enough innovative. This also seems to rub off on his fans: they have a huge statue for him in the form of a goat on a rocket built and delivered right in front of the Tesla factory in Austin, Texas.

The most obvious question about the statue is quickly explained: the goat shape is derived from an internet gag. Real superstars are often referred to there as “Greatest of All Time” – “GOAT” for short – which also means “goat” when written out. Usually a term used for sports stars like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. For Musk’s fans, however, it’s clear: he’s also a “GOAT” – and so the goat had to serve as a model for his giant statue.

In addition to the goat shape, the statue also offers some highlights: The figure – half Elon Musk, half goat – rides on a rocket. And it’s not just supposed to be reminiscent of Musk’s SpaceX company, it can actually spit fire.

Elon Musk statue cost $600,000

The statue was not cheap: the organizers want to have shelled out almost 600,000 dollars for it. However, the campaign is not entirely altruistic either: the initiators belong to a crypto startup that has developed its own Elon coin and now wants to sell it in silver. Advertising and publicity are of course just right for this.

What Musk himself thinks of the statue is not yet known. What is striking, however, is that the richest man in the world has not yet commented on this. Normally, Musk is very aggressive with puns and memes – and he has also repeatedly made a name for himself with crypto investments.
