Twitter, which under its new owner Elon Musk is crashing at high speed technically and economically, is seen by many as a negative paradigm of the digital age, as a problematic machine of discord and opinion activism. The fear that Musk will convert the platform into his political weapon in precisely this sense is justified. But the actual damage that is currently being done lies elsewhere and is at least as serious.
