Since January 1, 2020, career starters in nursing, child care and geriatric care have been trained together. Politicians, experts and associations hope that the general training will make the nursing profession more attractive and that more young people will decide to work in hospitals and nursing homes where they are urgently needed. Kaspar Pfister, Managing Director of the Benevit Group, which operates 30 geriatric care facilities in Germany, now has serious doubts that the reform will actually meet expectations.
