Eight years later, tribute to the victims of the attack

A tribute was paid Monday evening, in the presence of several members of the government and political leaders, to the four victims of the attack on the Hyper Cacher supermarket at the Porte de Vincennes in Paris, eight years to the day after the events. The Keeper of the Seals, Eric Dupond-Moretti, as well as the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin represented the government during this ceremony organized by the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (Crif).

Alongside them were present in particular the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, the director of publication of Charlie Hebdo, Riss, as well as François Hollande, who was President of the Republic during the attacks in 2015.

The ceremony began at 7 p.m. with the testimony of a survivor of the attack. Then, political figures and family members of the deceased lit candles in memory of the three customers and the store employee, Yoan Cohen, Yoav Hattab, Philippe Braham and François-Michel Saada, who had been taken hostage and then murdered. by Amedy Coulibaly.

A minute of silence

Other candles symbolized the tribute paid to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo attack, to the three people murdered during the attack against the Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris on December 23, and to all the victims of anti-Semitism. in France.

“The days of January 7, 8 and 9 are not only days of commemoration, but also an injunction to continue the fight,” declared Yonathan Arfi, president of Crif. Also present were the Chief Rabbi of France Haïm Korsia, and the president of the Israelite Central Consistory of France, Elie Korchia. The ceremony ended with a minute of silence and the Marseillaise after the recitation of the kaddish, the prayer for the dead.
