Eight years in prison for the man, drunk and drugged, who had mowed down little Adam

A 34-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Montpellier Criminal Court. On August 21, 2021, a family was mowed down as they walked on the sidewalk by a car whose driver had lost control. Little Adam, after several days in a coma at the CHU, had lost his life in this accident. Her younger sister, her mother and a family friend were seriously injured.

The expertise had made it possible to determine that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol (with a rate of 1.33 g / liter of blood), drugs (cannabis and cocaine) and at an excessive speed of 86 km /h. The speed was limited to 50 km / h in this street located near the popular districts of Celleneuve and Chamberte.

Arrested at the airport while trying to reach Morocco

After a year in preventive prison, he was released pending his trial on August 22, 2022. Despite the ban on leaving the territory, he was arrested three days later at Marignane airport when he s was about to go to Morocco. His explanations that he did not know he had an obligation to stay in France did not convince the court.

In addition to his eight-year prison sentence, his driver’s license was canceled with a ten-year ban on renewal and his car was confiscated. The case was adjourned to September 18, 2023 for civil interests. He has ten days to appeal.
