eight departments in western France and Pas-de-Calais on orange vigilance

The weather, Sunday October 29, will be marked by sometimes stormy rain on a New-Aquitaine-Grand-Est diagonal and by sustained winds, nine departments being placed on orange alert for rain-flooding and/or floods and/or waves- submergence by Météo-France.

Vendée, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Charente-Maritime and Charente are affected by the orange rain-flood vigilance. Charente-Maritime is also the subject of raw orange vigilance, as are Gironde, Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Finally, Vendée and Pas-de-Calais are in orange for risk of wave-submersion.

An active rain band will stagnate for a large part of the day on a diagonal going from the north of New Aquitaine to the Grand-Est. Under these continuous and sometimes stormy rains, accumulations will become significant, particularly in Poitou-Charentes and surrounding areas.

To the northwest of this band, a trailing regime will prevail with variable to cloudy skies in which occasionally intense and stormy showers will circulate, particularly in the afternoon.

A marked wind

On the other hand, an episode of rain will set in in the South-East. Precipitation will occasionally affect the PACA region, and will become significant in the Ardèche and the Cévennes relief. However, they will not concern the plains of Languedoc-Roussillon.

Furthermore, the rest of Occitanie, the Northern Alps and the Jura, although sometimes under cloudy skies, should stay away from the rain. The south wind will be strong in the evening in the axis of the Rhône and Saône valleys, with gusts of 60 to 80 km/h and sometimes up to 90 km/h in the Lyon region.

The southwest wind will also be marked in the north and northwest, with 60 km/h in the interior and 70 to 80 km/h on the coasts.

In the interior of the country, minimum temperatures will most often be between 8 and 12°C. Maximum values will generally reach 15 to 17°C in the northern half, with locally 18 to 20°C in the east. In the south of the country, we expect 15 to 22°C, locally 24 to 25°C in Occitanie or Corsica.
