Quickly behind, the France team reacted well by beating Australia (4-1) on Tuesday to make a successful start to the 2022 World Cup. At the end of the game, the French coach Didier Deschamps wanted to congratulate their players.

“Even if we were chilled at the start, we did everything we needed afterwards. In the second half, we could have had an even wider score, but we put in a lot of good things, underlined the technician at the TF1 antenna. Certainly Australia left a bit of physicality in the first period, but I don’t take the credit away from my players, quite the contrary.”

Far from being defeated despite the cascade of injuries, including that of left-back Lucas Hernandez at the start of the game (see brief 10:17 p.m.), the defending champions have proven that they have resources.
