Economy – Much less short-time work – Economy

In Germany, the number of short-time workers fell significantly in August. According to a survey by the Ifo Institute, the number has fallen from a good one million recently to 688,000 people. The Ifo estimates the number on the basis of the monthly business survey among companies and on the basis of data from the Federal Employment Agency. The number of short-time workers is below one million for the first time since the beginning of the Corona crisis. The institute estimated the proportion of dependent employees who were on short-time work in August at two percent. In July it was still 3.2 percent. The hospitality industry remains particularly affected, with a share of 10.1 percent. However, the number also fell significantly here.
