Ebertshausener See: swimming is still prohibited – Dachau

The district office of Dachau has extended the ban on bathing for people and animals at Lake Ebertshausen. As the authority announced, the health department recently took samples from several lakes in the district, including Karlsfelder See, the Stadtweiher in Dachau-Süd, Bergkirchener See, Mückensee or Waldschwaigsee. All these investigations were “bacteriologically flawless”. Only at the Ebertshausener See is “a bathing ban still necessary due to a lack of visibility”, according to the district office. During the microbiological examination of the lake near the A8 in the municipality of Odelzhausen in mid-July, blue-green algae with toxins were found in “abundant” concentrations. Blue-green algae can irritate the skin or produce a liver toxin that can be fatal in dogs, for example. The term alga is nevertheless misleading, since it is a question of cyanobacteria that carry out photosynthesis.
