For a year there was no travel center in Düsseldorf main station. Instead, the railway employees advised customers outside, in a container on the forecourt, while renovations were taking place inside. Now Deutsche Bahn has reopened the travel center – with a different waiting system, lounge-like armchairs, stools and canapes as well as tastefully muted, bright colors. The 350 square meter room, located between branches of Nordsee, McDonald’s and Frittenwerk, looks like a mixture of a bank branch and a coffee shop chain, although unfortunately the passengers don’t get any coffee.
