Due to a bridge explosion, Autobahn 7 will be completely closed on Thursday – Bavaria

The A7 motorway near Werneck in Lower Franconia will be completely closed in both directions on Thursday for the demolition of part of a bridge. The closure affects the section between the Schweinfurt/Werneck motorway junction and the Gramschatzer Wald junction, a spokesman for Autobahn GmbH announced. The reason is a planned demolition between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at the Stettbach valley bridge.

The explosion will demolish the roadway towards Fulda as part of the bridge renovation. Traffic will be diverted during this time, it was said. The area around the explosion will also be cordoned off within a radius of 300 meters and secured by the police and fire brigade.

The approximately 240-meter-long motorway bridge from 1966 is to be renovated by summer 2025. In a first step, the Würzburg direction was renovated from autumn 2021. Now the Fulda direction will follow. The construction costs are therefore 27 million euros.
