On June 27, 2022, an email from the former managing director Heinrich Meier arrived at the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation in Munich – correspondence that the SZ has received, but which, according to Meier’s lawyers, does not exist. In it, Meier asks a secretary to erase all his data from the hard drives. She declines: “I don’t want to make myself liable to prosecution in the last few meters.” She is about to retire in the summer of 2022 and has been working for many years at the foundation’s headquarters with a view of Nymphenburg Palace. Heinrich Meier himself had been retired for almost three months at that point.
