Pink offensive: The six coolest drinks for the summer
Cheers, summer is here! And what goes better with a mild summer evening than a cool drink? Six cocktail recipes that don’t just pop in color.
This summer is going to be pink: more and more manufacturers are currently bringing pink spirits onto the market or developing drinks that shimmer pink in the glass. No wonder: the cocktails not only go perfectly with the strawberry season, but are also instagrammable. Six drinks with which you can score points at the next garden party (be sure to toast outdoors with sufficient distance!).
Campari Amalfi
For many, Campari and orange go together in summer like a lounger goes with a pool. The Italian bitter aperitif is more diverse than you think, as the Campari Amalfi shows. The focus here is on the grapefruit, which in combination with bitter lemon unfolds the citrus notes in the best possible way. In addition, it is really easy to prepare: Two ingredients and garnish, a large wine glass with lots of ice – cheers.
These ingredients are needed:
- 40ml Campari
- 80 ml bitter lemon (e.g. Fever-Tree Sicilian Bitter Lemon)
- 1 dash of fresh grapefruit
Garnish: Grapefruit column
And this is how it is prepared: Pour Campari into a wine glass over plenty of ice, add a dash of fresh grapefruit or grapefruit juice, pour in bitter lemon and garnish with grapefruit.
Bombay Bramble
The Bramble is one of Britain’s most popular drinks and can be found on almost every cocktail menu in the country. It was developed by bartender legend Dick Bradsell. With the new Bombay Bramble, you can now mix the drink, which has long been one of the modern classics, at home in no time at all.
These ingredients are needed:
- 50ml Bombay Bramble
- 25 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 20 ml sugar syrup
Garnish: lemon wedge, blackberries and raspberries
And this is how it is prepared: Shake all the ingredients with ice for 10 seconds, then pour into the glass and garnish with (frozen) fruit.
Pink gin and tonic
There is hardly a drink that has conquered the counters of the republic so quickly in recent years. The latest craze: pink gin for a pink G&T.
These ingredients are needed:
Garnish: rosemary sprig and grapefruit slice
And this is how it is prepared: Put all the ingredients in a glass together with ice cubes, then garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of grapefruit.

Gin and tonic is a fine thing, but if you want a little variety in your glass, you should take a closer look at Genever, in a way the juniper ancestor of gin and still extremely popular in the Netherlands today. Some of the best come from Rutte. The “Summer Love” is mixed quickly and gets a special twist with the bittersweet tarragon. Complex and refreshing at the same time.
These ingredients are needed:
- 40ml Rutte Old Simon Genever
- 20 ml real cranberry juice (do not use nectar)
- 15 ml vanilla syrup
- 80 ml sparkling mineral water
Garnish: fresh tarragon
And this is how it is prepared: Put ice cubes in a glass. Add the ingredients and stir. Decorate with a sprig of tarragon.
Pink Paloma
Not only those with a sweet tooth – keyword salted caramel – know that a pinch of salt can reveal completely new flavors, but also drink lovers. A classic of the international cocktail world is the Paloma, which is how you mix it as a refreshing long drink to take home.
These ingredients are needed:
- 50ml tequila
- 10 ml lime juice
- 1 pinch of sea salt
- 1 bottle of Thomas Henry Pink Grapefruit
Garnish: Lime wedge
And this is how it is prepared: Mix tequila, lime juice and a pinch of sea salt, add ice cubes and fill up with Thomas Henry Pink Grapefruit, then refine with a lime wedge.
Germano Mexicano
And once again that Mexican feeling, this time filigree vermouth from the German brand Belsazar meets smoky Mezcal, more contrasts are hardly possible. It’s delicious anyway – or is that why?

This is how it is prepared: Put all the ingredients in a shaker, fill up with ice cubes and shake vigorously. Serve in a chilled glass over ice and garnish with a grapefruit slice.
