Most of the jewels stolen from the Green Vault in 2019 are back in Dresden. The clues probably came from the alleged thieves themselves – who expect advantages in their process.

For Saxony, Christmas presents took place this year on the fourth weekend in Advent. The country received 31 pieces of jewelry set with diamonds, including a breast star and hat ornaments. More precisely: It got the jewels back. Because these had been stolen from the Green Vault in Dresden. Thieves broke into the treasury of the Residenzschloss in November 2019, smashed a display case and took jewel sets worth 113 million euros with them. Since then, King August the Strong’s treasure has been considered lost – until Saturday night.
