Once a year, the best sailing and motor boats of the year are chosen. You can’t win the industry Oscar with a pleasing exterior, the models have to prove themselves in extensive tests by the trade press. Germany is represented by two magazines on the international jury. In the group of sailing boats it is the magazine “Yacht”, in the group of motor boats it is the magazine “Boote”. Typical of the pandemic: This time the award ceremony did not take place at a trade fair – there was a virtual award ceremony that was recorded in the editorial offices of “Yacht” and “Boote”.
Numerous new sailing yachts and motor boats were presented last year – only the top models made it onto the shortlist. Despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the test drives of the 24 nominated candidates could be carried out in autumn 2021 in La Rochelle on the French west coast and in Port Ginesta south of Barcelona.
