Draft by the Ministry of Health: Free corona tests until the end of February

Anyone who cares for relatives, has to go to the hospital or tests their way out of isolation will receive a free corona test. This should remain so until the end of February. The three-euro tests, on the other hand, are being phased out.

Corona tests for three euros in official test centers will no longer be available from the end of November. This emerges from a draft of the test regulation, which ARD Capital Studio present.

So far, people who had a red Corona warning app could be tested for three euros. There was also the option of an official quick test before an event or when visiting an older relative. From the Federal Ministry of Health it is said that the offer was little accepted. In such cases, a self-test from the supermarket or drugstore is sufficient.

Free trials until the end of February

However, there should still be free rapid antigen tests for certain cases – for caring relatives or before visits to old people’s and nursing homes. Even those who have to go to the hospital are entitled to it. The same goes for people with disabilities and their carers. And the test remains free if it is necessary to test yourself out of corona isolation.

Overall, federal spending is to be reduced, also by reducing the remuneration paid to the test centers. The new rules should apply until the end of February. The old regulation expires on Friday.
