Dozens of diplomats protest against Sergey Lavrov

Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov wanted to justify the war of aggression in Ukraine before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. However, he had to speak in front of a largely deserted hall.

In protest against the Russian war in the Ukraine have diplomats in Geneva before the speech of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov left the room of the UN Human Rights Council. The German Ambassador Katharina Stasch and dozens of other delegations were involved in the previously coordinated action.

Lavrov, who was connected via video link, read a lengthy statement in which he justified the attack on Ukraine with human rights violations on the Ukrainian side.

At first he wanted to attend the meeting in person. The trip was then canceled with reference to the blocking of European airspace for Russian aircraft. The Human Rights Council began its regular spring session on Monday.
