A45 in NRW
Cookie crisis? Rushing “Cookie Monster” flashed on the highway
When evaluating a speed camera photo, the driver’s unusual Cookie Monster outfit is noticeable. But the police don’t find it funny.
The driver was traveling on the A45 towards Hagen in mid-September when he or she was speeding at eleven kilometers per hour, the police said. It is not known whether the driver was deliberately driving too fast in order to be photographed with the mask over his head and hang the picture on the wall as a funny trophy. However, the supposedly funny action significantly increases the risk of accidents, the police warned: The costume severely restricts the field of vision. In the worst case, the driver could cause accidents and threaten human lives.
The haste will be expensive for the “Cookie Monster”.
The fine for speeding violations is 40 euros. According to police, the car is registered to a 57-year-old from Hagen. He will now receive mail from the fines office.
In the video: Speed checks are intended to ensure more safety in road traffic – the police use different techniques to achieve this. But all measurement techniques have a certain degree of inaccuracy. That is why the legislature has introduced tolerance.
