A donkey foal had been missing in the British town of Hook since May 15. After an intensive search, it was now able to celebrate a reunion with its mother, siblings and owner.

Who does this? That was the question asked by nearly all residents of the southern English town of Hook, Hampshire, when it became known that a donkey foal had been kidnapped from a local farm. But after more than two weeks of intensive searching, there was a happy ending.

The little mare “Moon” – a Mediterranean miniature donkey – was only two months old when she suddenly couldn’t be found on May 15 of this year. Concern for her was great as she had not yet been weaned from breast milk, the UK Daily Mail reported.

The disappearance of “Moon” immediately triggered a large search operation, which also spread via social media. Thousands of strangers followed the case spellbound, until the redeeming news finally came: “Moon” was found and is doing well, as its overjoyed owners announced via Facebook.

Last night they traveled with the police to the Buckinghamshire district, almost 100 kilometers away, to pick up the mini donkey there. A witness previously told police that she was traveling with her friend on a country lane in nearby Farnham on May 15 when she stopped at a set of traffic lights. In the car in front of her, a blue station wagon of unknown make and model, a donkey was locked in the back.

Some time later “Moon” was actually found in a stable nearby – and was able to go home again. Details of the finding situation, or information about who owned the stable in which “Moon” was discovered, was not published.
