Mr. Rütter, the pandemic has triggered a pet boom, many people have turned to dogs. Does that make you happy?
When the animal shelters emptied during the lockdown, I naively thought: Oh great, now many people are getting a dog who previously only flirted with it. Now people finally have the opportunity to fulfill their dream of owning a dog. But I was wrong. There is a massive return wave. Animal shelters are overflowing again today – with dogs that have been given away.
