Documentary film “Averroès & Rosa Parks” in cinemas: Removing the stigma from psychiatry – Culture

In “Averroès & Rosa Parks,” the sequel to the award-winning documentary “On the Adamant,” Nicolas Philibert lets the patients speak and shows the people behind the illness.

The patient and her therapist sit opposite each other, illuminated by the sun. “I’m scared,” the patient murmurs. “What calms you down when you wake up at night?” asks the therapist. “Hashish,” replies the woman with grey hair and dark circles under her eyes. “What else?” asks the doctor. His voice is soft; he could be her son. Instead of a white coat, he is wearing a dark polo shirt and light trousers. The woman stares into space with her eyes wide open, her hands shaking. She slowly takes a drag on her cigarette.
