District of Munich: Many apprenticeships remain vacant – District of Munich

Even if the final figures are not expected until the end of October, the regional committee of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the district of Munich is already drawing a positive interim balance as far as the number of trainees is concerned: According to this, around 1200 young people in the district started an apprenticeship in one of the 90 IHK professions started. This means that the number of apprentices remains stable compared to the previous year.

In view of the worsening shortage of skilled workers, many companies have expanded their training opportunities, says Christoph freely, chairman of the IHK regional committee Munich district. The willingness to train remains high because the companies urgently need highly trained young professionals for the upcoming challenges. “The biggest problem for the companies is still that there are not enough applicants for the numerous training places on offer,” the owner of a company in Kirchheim continued. According to the Federal Employment Agency, 816 apprenticeship positions in the district were still vacant when training started.

In the meantime, 31 trainees and dual students have been welcomed to the district office in Munich. Classic administrative jobs are offered here, as well as courses in “Public Law”, “Public Management” and “Social Work”. After the training, the graduates can work in the various organizational units of the authority as specialists.
