“Ukrainian schoolchildren should quickly settle into the Bavarian school system and the German language,” says the Ministry of Education’s website. But it is not that easy. Especially in secondary schools, where the children are not taught in regular classes but in so-called bridging classes, the integration of the children is a challenge. “It would be better for integration and language acquisition if they were taught in regular classes,” says Beate Brenner, acting principal of Taufkirchen Middle School.
