In the five years of its existence, the African Book Festival in Berlin has built up an enthusiastic young audience and an impeccable reputation, as well as a carefully cultivated network of writers and publishers on the African continent. Festival guests included Ijoma Mangold, Bernardine Evaristo and Yaa Gyasi. Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth is the patron, and the Capital Cultural Fund is supporting the event with 95,000 euros.
