Of “disgust”. This is what inspires the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, the discovery, this Sunday morning, of anti-Muslim tags on the Islamic cultural center Avicenna in Rennes. “The president asked me to tell the leaders of this association (…) how much we disgust these inscriptions which are insults, insults to French Muslims, insults to France,” said the tenant of Beauvau after his meeting with those in charge of the center.

“Any place of worship, any place of religious inspiration is welcome in our country and we owe protection to our fellow Muslims as we owe our fellow Christians or Jews”, added the Minister. Two days before the start of Ramadan, Gerald Darmanin said that instructions had been given to the prefects on Friday to “particularly protect” Muslim citizens during this period of religious feast. Referring to “filthy” inscriptions, he assured that “the Republic must protect all its children”.

On Sunday morning, racist tags were discovered on the exterior walls of the Avicenna Islamic Center, where one could read in particular: “the crusades will resume”, “Charles Martel save us”, “no to Islamization”, “eternal France”.
