“Discreet, smiling and altruistic”… Brest hospital pays tribute to the young student nurse

A whole city in shock. Three days after the discovery of the charred body of Héléna Cluyou at the entrance to the Quiberon peninsula (Finistère), the emotion is still palpable in Brest. On Saturday, the public prosecutor confirmed that the body found Thursday in a forest in the town of Argol was indeed that of the young woman who should have celebrated her 21st birthday on February 1. An announcement that upset the teams of the Brest regional university hospital center where the student was following her training, enrolled in the third year at the nursing training institute (Ifsi).

“His sudden disappearance in dramatic circumstances touches us deeply,” responded the hospital management in a message posted on its Facebook account. The CHRU teams paint the portrait of a “discreet, smiling, sociable and altruistic” young woman who “committed to this profession with the desire to help people. “She was listening to her friends, always there to support them,” continues the management of the Brest hospital.

“This tragedy will leave a lasting mark on our city”

At Ifsi in Brest, the confirmation of the death of the young woman also plunged the students and the teaching teams into sadness. “Friend and well-integrated promotion colleague, she appreciated the real solidarity between the students”, continues the message, evoking “the delicacy and benevolence of Héléna. »

Mayor of Brest, François Cuillandra also reacted on social networks to the death of Héléna Cluyou. “Since his disappearance, a strong emotion had seized the population of Brest, writes the elected socialist. This tragedy will leave a lasting mark on our city. »

Still several gray areas

During a press briefing organized on Saturday, Camille Miansoni, public prosecutor of Brest, gave an update on the investigation into the death of the student, who had not given any sign of life since the night of 28 to January 29 as she returned from a night out at the club. If the genetic analyzes confirmed the identity of the victim, the autopsy of the body “unfortunately” did not make it possible “to establish with precision the cause of death”, he indicated, specifying that the state of the body, burned after the death, had “not made it possible to identify tangible traces of violence. “Perhaps the analyzes to come will allow us to know more,” added the magistrate.

In this case, several gray areas still need to be clarified. Investigators are particularly interested in knowing how the young woman met the suspect, who died Thursday after a double suicide attempt. “There is no evidence to establish that they knew each other,” said Camille Miansoni. Among the gray areas that persist are also the place where the body may have been kept before being burned as well as the possible violence suffered by the victim, explained the magistrate
