Downpours fall on France
The Kirk depression continued to dump downpours of water on the country during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, crossing Ile-de-France towards the northeast. Seine-et-Marne was placed on red flood alert while nearly 65,000 homes were without electricity on Wednesday evening.
A risk of “strong to exceptional” flooding on the Grand Morin river, a sub-tributary of the Seine, justified the placement of Seine-et-Marne on red alert until Thursday, according to Vigicrues. “Rapid rises and localized overflows could be observed,” warns the specialized government site.
For this Thursday, Seine-et-Marne remains on red alert but Météo France has also placed 6 departments on orange alert.
