Dieter Dierks turns 80: Portrait of the Godfather of Sound

Dieter Dierks, legendary music producer and discoverer of the “Scorpions”, turns 80. He talks about his full rock’n’roll life and his experiences with the great rock and pop artists of the world.

The parking lot in front of the inconspicuous brick house is covered with coarse gravel. To enter the building, you have to pass under a massive canopy in 1980s colors resting on four white pillars. “Dierks Studio” is written in brown letters on the facade. The entrance was supposed to bring a little glamor to the 8,500-strong village of Stommeln northwest of Cologne. Because the guests who came (and still come) often had big names: Michael Jackson, for example.
