Celebrate the Lunar New Year with Diablo IV’s Lunar Awakening Event

As the new year unfolds, Blizzard Entertainment embraces the festive spirit by hosting a special event in honor of the Chinese New Year across its games. This year, under the auspicious sign of the Wood Dragon, players of Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred can participate in an exciting event themed around the New Moon, featuring unique rewards and a variety of in-game bonuses.

Join the Excitement of the Lunar Awakening in Season 7

The highly anticipated Lunar Awakening event has returned for Season 7 of Diablo IV! This year, the celebration runs from Tuesday, February 4 at 7:00 PM to Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM (Paris time). During this festive window, players exploring the seasonal realms in Season 7: Season of Maledictions will discover serpent-shaped sanctuaries scattered throughout Sanctuary, including the regions of Nahantu and various dungeons. Activating these sanctuaries provides a fantastic 100% bonus to experience gained for 2 minutes, along with an increase in damage dealt.

Additionally, each time players activate a sanctuary, they earn Ancestral Favor, a valuable currency that can be exchanged with Ying-Yue at Ked Bardun in the Arid Steppes for an array of exclusive rewards available only during this event. One of the standout rewards is the Concubine of Trag’Oul mount, sure to delight fans seeking a unique steed!

Players can accumulate up to 10 levels of Renown during the Lunar Awakening by utilizing the special sanctuaries, which will replace the standard ones for the event’s duration. Below is a list of the known lunar sanctuaries and their special effects, in addition to the 100% experience bonus:

  • Artillery Sanctuary: Spells may spawn a holy bomb.
  • Shockwave Sanctuary: Each explosion initiates a multiple bombardment.
  • Channeling Sanctuary: Increases attack speed and helps to reset cooldowns.
  • Conduction Sanctuary: Regularly calls down powerful lightning strikes.
  • Greed Sanctuary: Chance to summon a treasure goblin; killing enemies while active also summons one.
  • Deadly Sanctuary: A chance to instantly eliminate a monster, causing nearby foes to flee. Note: This includes elite monsters, but not bosses or other players.
  • Blessed Sanctuary: Reflects all damage taken, calculated based on level and difficulty.

There are numerous rewards to acquire, enhancing your power in Season 7. Beyond the cosmetic items earned through the 10 levels of Renown in this event, gathering Ancestral Favor will eventually allow you to obtain a Sublime Spark. Collect four of these to craft a Unique Mythic item of your choice, among other enticing rewards.

For dedicated players who complete all 10 levels of Renown before the event concludes, there’s good news! Level 10 isn’t the final limit; akin to seasonal Renown, you can continue to earn additional rewards until the Lunar Awakening ends, in the form of Endless Ancestor Gifts that contain a wealth of helpful items for your progression in Season 7.

Lastly, players looking to dress their characters in festive attire for the Chinese New Year will find new cosmetic outfits available in the Diablo IV shop for each class during this event. The Lone Moon Dragon Armor, perfect for adorning any horse, especially the Concubine of Trag’Oul, will also be available. While the cosmetic options are paid, they may inspire a new look for your character!

This season marks a shift from the Sacresprit theme that dominated Season 6 of Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, as the Necromancer rises to prominence in Season 7. However, while one of its builds is undeniably powerful, it may not suit every player’s style.
