DFB: National coach Flick faces the press – suddenly Kimmich calls – football

Was there anything important to announce?

In the middle of the DFB press conference, Hansi Flick (57) got a call – from Joshua Kimmich (27)!

The national coach just answered a BILD question about Müller and suddenly said: “Now Joshua Kimmich is calling, I’ll write that I’ll call you back right away…”

Is the baby there? Kimmich’s partner Lina is expecting the third child every day, so Joshua is not (yet) part of the DFB team.

Flick laughing when asked by BILD whether there is anything new: “It’s a bit difficult for Jo Kimmich to say something now. It’s better if I call him first…”

So is the baby here? Not yet!

Flick came in again after the PK when he had been on the phone and said: “I just called Jo Kimmich back, everything is calm. The offspring is still a long time coming. I told him to stay at home with his wife. Of course he’s always a bit divided because he always wants to play. But that’s the best decision at the moment, he wouldn’t have had a quiet second here. Birth is just so much more important.”

Means: Kimmich will probably not be there in Holland either.

Flick wants to continue his winning streak (eight wins in eight games): “We go into every game to win. We will send a well-prepared team onto the field. I see the development very positively, we want to continue like this.”

But the series isn’t that important to him at the moment: “The series doesn’t interest me very much. I’m interested when we say at the end of December that we’ve won eight games, you know what that would mean.”

Then we would be world champions!

What Flick already revealed: Neuer will of course be back in goal, Rüdiger will return to defense, Musiala will probably be in the starting XI again. And Müller always plays with Flick. Flick: “Of course Thomas always plays when he performs. He’s a player who gives a lot to the team, on and off the pitch. He invigorates a team, supports each individual. He is good for the team, is an extension of the coaching team. Age doesn’t matter. He will also play against Holland.”
