Meghan Markle and her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have not traveled to the U.K. since 2022; however, the Duchess of Sussex is open to bringing them to London if a specific condition is met.
A source revealed, “If security assessments determine it’s safe, she will likely allow Harry to take Archie and Lilibet to visit their grandfather, King Charles, at some point.”
Additionally, the insider mentioned, “Having a residence in Portugal will facilitate this, as Meghan can fly with the children without feeling constrained.”
Since relocating to the U.S., the Sussex family has voiced concerns regarding potential threats in the U.K. and the loss of their security privileges. Royal expert Tom Quinn previously noted that the Suits actress has reservations about attending the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Quinn stated, “Meghan has expressed that she would only return to England if she and Harry have their own place and the security they deem necessary.”
He added, “Meghan will never feel comfortable returning to the U.K. to stay with her in-laws.”

Earlier this year, Harry expressed his deep concerns regarding the Duchess’s safety should she return to the U.K.
“The danger remains, and it only takes one person who is influenced by negative media to act accordingly,” said the father of two in Tabloids on Trial. “Whether it’s a knife or acid, these are genuine worries for me. It’s part of the reason I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”
A close source confirmed Harry’s worries about flying to London.
“The threats are very real. He requires protection. The belief that security forces can guarantee safety is an oversimplification of the actual dangers the family faces,” the source commented.
Though Harry lost his case against the Home Office regarding the retention of his security rights, he clearly communicated his reasons for moving to the U.S. in his 2023 testimony.
“It is with great sorrow that my wife and I felt compelled to withdraw from our roles and leave the country in 2020. The U.K. is my true home,” Harry stated.
“The U.K. is integral to my children’s heritage, and I wish for them to feel as much at home there as they do in the U.S.,” he added.
The founder of the Invictus Games emphasized that while he wishes for Archie and Lilibet to experience his homeland, he won’t compromise their safety.
“This cannot happen if it’s not possible to ensure their safety while they are on U.K. soil. I cannot put my wife at risk, and given my life experiences, I am hesitant to put myself in danger either,” he concluded.
