Depardieu’s show, implicated for sexual violence, disrupted by feminists

“Depardieu, the black eagle is you” or “Dear spectators, dear spectators, you are cheering a rapist. These are some of the slogans affixed by the Bordeaux feminist collage group on Wednesday evening at the Femina theater in Bordeaux to host the concert “Depardieu sings Barbara”.

After the release of the album in 2016, a tour has been underway since 2017 by one of the most famous French actors, indicted for “rape” and “sexual assault” since 2020 for facts denounced by actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018. More than a dozen women accuse the 74-year-old actor of similar facts, in an investigation published by Mediapart on April 11. He benefits at this stage from the presumption of innocence.

A cry of solidarity

“We have decided to denounce this ultimate provocation and omerta of the entertainment world concerning the impunity of the attackers, writes the collective Noustoutes in a press release Wednesday evening. We, feminist activists, make our voices heard to cry out our solidarity with the 14 victims who had the courage to denounce the sexual violence inflicted on them by Gérard Depardieu. »

The concert was able to take place in the Bordeaux hall, even if it started a little late. The communication department of the Femina theater, contacted by 20 minutesdeclined to comment on the matter.
