EM semi-finalist Denmark is the second team to have the ticket for the footballWM Resolved in Qatar in 2022. The team of trainers Kasper Hjulmand celebrated the eighth to-zero victory in the eighth qualifying game in a 1-0 (0-0) win against Austria and made it to the World Cup finals for the second time in a row. Previously, only Germany had qualified for Qatar in terms of sport.

Joakim Mähle (53rd) scored in Copenhagen for the Danes, who are the only European team that have not yet given a point. Yussuf Poulsen (RB Leipzig) was in contrast to Jacob Bruun Larsen (TSG Hoffenheim) in the starting XI.

For Austria, however, the last hope of the play-off place failed, also because Scotland celebrated a 1-0 victory against the Faroe Islands shortly before the end. For the coach, who is already criticized Franco Foda it should be tight now.

Ronaldo extends goal record

Portugal’s football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has further expanded its best-ever goal for national teams – in typical fashion. In the 5-0 (3-0) victory of his team in the World Cup qualifier against the blatant underdog Luxembourg, CR7 scored twice from the penalty spot (8th, 13th) and made his three-pack perfect with a header from close range (87th).

The scorer now has 115 international goals in 182 games. It was only on Saturday that Ronaldo had become Europe’s record international player and had Sergio Ramos (Spain) outdated. Luxembourg is Ronaldo’s favorite opponent: The 36-year-old has not met any other nation more often in his international career (9). With the win, the Portuguese have at least the play-off rank two for the qualification for World Cup 2022 in Qatar for sure.

England only draw – riots in the stands

England made the premature leap to Soccer World Cup missed in Qatar. The European runner-up did not get beyond 1: 1 (1: 1) against Hungary at London’s Wembley Stadium. The game was overshadowed shortly after the start of riots in the stands between Hungarian hooligans and the police.

The guests had taken the lead through Roland Sallai (24th) from Freiburg with a penalty kick, defender John Stones (37th) from Manchester city equalized in the first half. With a high percentage of possession, but little chance they ran Three Lions subsequently, didn’t embarrass RB keeper Peter Gulacsi.

England are at the top of the table in Group I with 15 points thanks to the draw, Hungary with eleven points now has a small remaining chance of play-offs.

The London police had taken special security precautions in advance to prevent problems with the notorious Hungary fans – in vain. Before the kick-off, the guest supporters booed loudly when the England national team fell on their knees and presented a banner as a protest. During the first leg in September, Hungarian fans caused outrage when they racially insulted English players.

Sweden and Switzerland win

Sweden increased the pressure on Spain, which, like Italy, France and Belgium, did not play a World Cup qualifier as a Nations League semi-finalist. The Scandinavians won 2-0 (0-0) against Greece and are now two points ahead of Spain. Leipzigs Emil Forsberg (59th / foul penalty) and ex-Dortmund Alexander Isak (69th) met.

After their 4-0 (3-0) win in Lithuania, Switzerland is tied with European champions Italy in Group C. With the 1: 2 (1: 0) of Northern Ireland in Bulgaria, both have at least the playoff participation and are still playing for the group victory. The Gladbacher scored the goals in Vilnius Breel Embolo with a double pack (31st / 44th) from Wolfsburg-based Renato Steffen (42nd) and Mario Gavranovic (90th + 4).
