Munich – The third and final matchday in Group C is upon us, and with Denmark versus Serbia, two teams are facing off that can both still make it to the round of 16 of the 2024 European Championship. The winner of this match will be in the knockout phase, with a draw the Danes have a good chance of reaching the round of 16, while the Serbs would be out with a draw.

Denmark vs Serbia today in the live ticker: “It will be a difficult 50:50 game”

Denmark, a possible opponent of the German national team in the round of 16, is confident ahead of the match against Serbia. “We are prepared for all scenarios that can happen,” said national coach Kasper Hjulmand. If the Scandinavians hold on to second place in Group C, they will face Germany in Dortmund on Saturday. “We have to win the game and we can talk about it afterwards,” Hjulmand continued.

It is still possible for the Danes to win the group, but England would have to slip up against Slovenia. If England beat Slovenia and Denmark beat Serbia, they would face the team coached by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann in the knockout round.

But it won’t be easy against Serbia. “It will be a difficult 50:50 game. We have to go full throttle. We have to push ourselves to the limit,” stressed Hjulmand, who was previously coach of Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 05. The record speaks in Denmark’s favor, as in three games against the Serbs so far there have been three Danish victories.

For Denmark’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, it will be a return to his old stomping ground. “This is the stadium where I took my first steps in professional football. I learned a lot,” said the Tottenham Hotspur player, who once played for FC Bayern.

Opponents Serbia are full of optimism. “The mood is good. Why shouldn’t it be? A football festival awaits us,” explained national coach Dragan Stojkovic. “There will be some changes, but I don’t know how many,” the coach continued. Luka Jović, who saved his team from elimination from the European Championship with a last-minute equalizer against Slovenia, may get a place in the starting eleven. (smr)
