Demonstration in Nantes after the rejection by the Constitutional Council of a request for RIP

Opponents of pension reform once again pounded the pavement on Wednesday evening in Nantes. A few hundred demonstrators, at the height of the rally, marched at the call of the inter-union after the rejection by the Constitutional Council of a request for a referendum on a shared initiative (RIP) aimed at submitting to citizens the recent law on retirees.

“The motto of the macronie: LSD, anxiety, precariousness”, “Manu Ciao, Macron, man of chaos” or even “Authority of a single man, it is a crime; what we want is the authority of all”, could we read in particular on some of the signs brandished by demonstrators. A few trash cans were burned and at least one person arrested.

The Constitutional Council on Wednesday rejected a second request for a referendum on pensions that the left had filed in extremis, before the promulgation of the highly contested government reform which postpones, with some exceptions, the retirement age from 62 to 64. .
