Deliveroo apologizes after ‘clumsy’ ‘missed call from mum’ notification

Missed call from mom. False alarm, this is an exercise! Take advantage of this simulation to wish your mother a happy birthday. » »

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Deliveroo, the home meal delivery company, saw fit to send this notification to many users. An idea that caused controversy, with several customers recalling that not everyone had a mother to celebrate on this day, whether she was dead or absent.

Contacted by our BFM colleaguesDeliveroo admitted a communication error: “We regret sending this notification, it was clumsy on our part and we apologize to anyone this message may have hurt,” responded the company.

Apologies accepted? This is not the first pseudo-comical communication hiccup from Deliveroo. In 2021, the company made a “joke” for April 1st. An email had been sent to customers, announcing the order of 38 pizzas. Faced with this announcement, some users panicked, or even blocked their credit cards, fearing hacking. Come on, a little seriousness now.
