Defender Eric Bailly suspended as a precaution after his expulsion in the Coupe de France

Eric Bailly will not play against Lorient this weekend in Ligue 1. The OM defender, expelled last week in the Coupe de France against Hyères, is suspended as a precaution, AFP learned from sources with knowledge of the case.

Bailly was sent off after a quarter of an hour against fans from Hyères (N2) after a gross foul on Var midfielder Almike Moussa N’Diaye, whom he hit with his foot in the chest. Evacuated on a stretcher, N’Diaye had to be hospitalized and briefly went through the intensive care unit of the Hôpital Nord de Marseille. OM won 2-0.

The Ivorian defender of OM served an automatic suspension match during OM’s victory on Wednesday in Troyes (2-0). He is currently suspended as a precaution and will therefore not be able to play on Saturday against Lorient. The Disciplinary Committee of the French Football Federation, which manages the Coupe de France, could take a final decision on his case at its next meeting, scheduled for Thursday.
