The cycling world has been in shock since Friday afternoon. Then it became known that the 18-year-old Swiss young rider Muriel Furrer succumbed to a traumatic brain injury that she had sustained in a fall in the junior world championship race the day before. Since then, central questions have remained unanswered; especially why her accident went unnoticed for so long and why she received medical care so late.
