Death of Aymen, knocked down by a driver in Montpellier: “He was afraid of reprisals”, says the lawyer of the arrested fugitive

The fugitive was arrested this Tuesday morning at dawn in the PO by the judicial police. His lawyer gives his first reaction.

A few hours after the arrest by the fugitives brigade of the judicial police of the driver suspected of having knocked down and killed Aymenon December 14 in Montpellier, after the France-Morocco match, his lawyer gives us his first reactions.

For the latter, if his client fled to Spain before being arrested near Perpignan where he had returned, it was because he was preparing his surrender.

“He had decided to return to French justice, he had to report to the police, but that does not change anything in the file” he announces. While justifying his client’s flight: “If he fled, it was because he was also afraid of reprisals against him and his relatives, he waited for it to calm down”.

Armed with a European arrest warrant issued by an investigating judge, the DTPJ investigators cornered the suspect this Tuesday morning at dawn, with relatives. He must be presented before the magistrate for an indictment for “fatal blows with a weapon”, causing him to incur a 20-year prison sentence.
