After the violent death of a florist in Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia, suspicion of a 17-year-old high school student has been further strengthened. During a search “in the home environment of the 17-year-old,” investigators found a knife that, according to the current state of knowledge, is the crime, said the police headquarters in Upper Franconia and the Coburg public prosecutor’s office. In addition, officials at the scene of the crime had discovered DNA traces that, according to previous investigations, could be assigned to the young man.

The 17-year-old is in custody. After walkers found the florist lifeless in a flower shop in downtown Lichtenfels on March 10, the student was arrested on March 25. According to an autopsy, the 50-year-old had been stabbed to death. The investigators do not want to provide information about further details, for example with regard to a possible motive, “in view of the youthful age of the suspect”. The special commission continues its work.
