Georg Kofler’s Social Chain AG has taken over the DS Group from Ralf Dümmel. That’s what Carsten Maschmeyer says about it.

A big deal has arisen among investors in “Die Höhle der Löwen”. Georg Koflers (64) Social Chain AG takes over Ralf Dümmels (54) DS Group. The news agency spot on news asked Carsten Maschmeyer (62) how he felt about it.

He was not surprised by the news that made headlines in Germany on Tuesday, explains Maschmeyer: “Because I found out about it a few weeks ago by chance.” He then called Kofler, “made it clear to him that I knew about it and had me put on the list of insiders. Because of this insider knowledge, I and my family were logically not allowed to trade shares in the social chain.”

Strategically smart?

The deal is a “probably strategically smart step,” says Maschmeyer. With Social Chain, Kofler is “at home in the online world, but he lacked strong offline skills. At DS, it’s the other way around. They complement each other perfectly and can build something really big.”

Was it possible that the whole thing started during the filming of “Die Höhle der Löwen”? “Maybe, but the rest of us lions didn’t notice anything at the time,” explains Maschmeyer. He cannot yet say what impact the deal will have on the TV show. “My guess: Both will no longer be on the show at the same time, because they will then belong to the same company and can hardly compete against each other.”

At the request of spot on news, a VOX spokesman said the broadcaster congratulated the Lions on the deal. This has no effect on the current season or the coming spring season, as the consequences have already been recorded. “As always, we will discuss how things will go on with ‘The Lions’ Den’ at a later date with everyone involved,” the spokesman continued.
