Deadly shots near Los Angeles: police: suspected perpetrator is dead

According to authorities, the suspected shooter in a gun attack in California is dead. As the police in Los Angeles announced, the suspect apparently died by suicide. “The suspect sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said.

After the police chased a wanted van, the officers said they approached the vehicle and heard a shot from inside the vehicle.

According to the police, the alleged perpetrator was a man of Asian origin, 72-year-old Huu Can Tran. “I can confirm that there are no other suspects in connection with the gun attack,” Luna said.

The motive for the attack is not yet known. The investigations are not yet complete. “Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are working around the clock to gather additional information and determine the motive for this extremely tragic event,” he said.

The suburb of Monterey Park is located about eight miles from downtown Los Angeles.
