Day parole granted to a second member of the “commando Érignac”

Sentenced to life in 2003 for the assassination in Corsica of the prefect Claude Erignac, Alain Ferrandi, 62, was granted this Thursday, by the court for the application of anti-terrorist sentences, a semi-freedom measure of one probationary year, at the end of which he will be on parole for a period of ten years. The man had been released for nearly six years, AFP learned from a judicial source.

This decision, which may be the subject of a suspensive appeal by the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat), takes place less than a month after Pierre Alessandri, also sentenced to life imprisonment for his membership in the Erignac commando, benefited from a similar arrangement.

Citrus farmer by day, prisoner by night

The two men, who had been released since 2017 after having served the eighteen years of their security period, had been asking for a sentence adjustment for several years and had suffered several refusals from the courts to grant it to them.

In February 2022, the court for the application of anti-terrorism sentences (Tapat) gave the green light to semi-freedom for Alain Ferrandi, but the decision was reversed on appeal three months later.

If it is not appealed, the measure will allow Alain Ferrandi to work during the day at a citrus grower in Castellare-di-Casinca, in Haute-Corse, and to return to sleep at night in the prison of Borgo, where he was transferred in April 2022 with Pierre Alessandri after the fatal attack in detention of the third member of the Erignac commando, Yvan Colonna.
