David Amess: Police class death of British MP as an act of terrorism (video)

British MP David Amess has been the victim of an act of terrorism according to initial police investigations. The act had been classified accordingly, said the Essex police on Saturday night. The anti-terrorist unit is leading the investigation. The 69-year-old Amess was attacked with a knife on Friday during a citizens’ consultation in a church in Leigh-on-Sea, east of London. He died on the scene. The police arrested a 25-year-old man. The motive for the act is still unclear. Amess was a Member of Parliament for Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s ruling Conservative Party. Johnson recognized him as a lovable friend and colleague. He was married and the father of five children. The flags on government buildings were placed at half mast in memory of him. Politicians and the public were shocked. It is the second fatal attack on members of parliament in five years. In 2016, Labor MP Jo Cox was shot dead just days before the Brexit referendum.
